Beautiful Norfolk
As anyone from Norfolk will tell you,
"Narr-folk, at be ryte bootiful, boi!"
As well as being renowned for its beauty, there's also lots to do...
The Beaches
Go on for miles and miles
Be it the sandy dunes of Sea Palling, the cliffs at Overstrand, surrounding the pier at Cromer, the rockpools of West Runton, perfect for surfing at East Runton, stretching out at low tide for miles at Holkham - there are almost too many from which to choose!
Tranquil Walks
Relaxing, inland and on the coast
There are striking long walks, such as the Norfolk Coastal path (all 83 miles from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea, if so inclined!), there are blissful short walks, such as a stroll around East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden, and there are countless unscripted paths simply waiting to be discovered.
Sailing
On the serene Norfolk Broads
Why not hire a day boat, canoe or yacht, from:
- Olivers Sailing Holidays, Martham
- Whispering Reeds, Hickling
- Hunter's Fleet, Ludham
- The many boat yards at Wroxham,
Potter Heigham, and Stalham
North Norfolk Railway
Steam magic for kids, and adults!
The Poppy Line steam trains operate daily from April to October* through the county’s most stunning coastal scenery, from the smart Victorian seaside resort of Sheringham to the Georgian town of Holt. (See timetable).
Horsey Seals
View the colony in the wild
Hundreds of seals live along the east Norfolk coast. Throughout the year they can often be spotted bobbing up and down in between hunting for fish, but they are best viewed basking in the sun on the sand at Horsey.
Country Pubs
Some of our favourites include:
- The Star Inn, Lessingham - good for food
- The Crown Inn, Catfield - a real ale pub
- White Horse, Neatishead - excellent food
- Greyhound Inn, Hickling - good for food
- Nelson Head, Horsey - a fine, real ale pub
- Ingham Swan, Ingham - posh food
- Foundry Arms, Northrepps - excellent food
